What is Beauty?

Is beauty having a beautiful face? Beautiful figure? Beautiful persona? Beautiful soul? Is beauty all of these? Or none? Is a person beautiful if they do not possess all of the above? Is beauty in the eye of the beholder? Do we believe in ourselves enough to know we are beautiful people inside and out or do we base our opinions on the perceptions of others? Who knows! I believe that beauty comes in many shapes, sizes, forms and behaviours. It is not about the colour of your hair, size of your jeans, how many ml’s of filler you have in your lips or the price tag on your foundation. It is about the person you truly are, and the self acceptance of being proud of that true self. To me I think one of the most beautiful qualities is kindness. Being kind enough to never judge or torment; being different and being yourself is beautiful and who is anyone else to tell you otherwise? Different never equals less, and everyone should be appreciated for being themselves. We live in a day and age where we have so much opportunity to like, share and pass comments on one another; let’s use all these social media platforms to support each other, spread positivity, kindness and love. And remember to smile, there is nothing more beautiful than a genuinely happy smile; a smile can change your day. Even on bad days, when nothing is going your way or maybe you cannot even muster the strength to get out of bed and face the world. Think of what brings you joy and put your energy into that, it may be as simple as a cup of coffee, putting on your fave lippy, or going out for a walk and appreciating life's priceless beauties. Whatever it may be, we all deserve to be happy and we are responsible for our own happiness - so take control, get out there and be your happy, beautiful self.

This picture is one of myself looking over Lochaber on day 4 out of 5 of a 100 mile walk along the West Highland Way in Scotland. Not only is it a breathtaking view of our beautiful country, but I was extremely proud of myself; the walk is still one of the most physically and mentally challenging things I have ever achieved and it was a beautiful moment that I am grateful to have captured.
